Meet the Directors
Performing Arts Director and Director of Bands
Connor Vaughn is the Performing Arts Director and Director of Bands at Lawrence North High School. Connor began teaching in 2016 in Warren Township, and moved to Lawrence Township in 2018. Mr. Vaughn marched with the Carolina Crown Drum & Bugle Corps, and has taught the Crossmen and Mandarins Drum & Bugle corps since aging out. An Indianapolis Native, Mr. Vaughn attended Butler University receiving a Bachelors in Music Education, and was the recipient of the Edgar J Axom Future Music Educator Award.
Assistant Band Director
Dan Herrick is currently in his 8th year as a band director, and his 2nd year as Assistant Band Director at Lawrence North High School. He also serves as an Assistant Director of the Marching Pride of Lawrence Township (MPLT). He has previously served as Head Director of Decatur Middle School Bands, Assistant Director of the Decatur Central High School Marching Band, and Head Director of the WGI Bronze Medalist Decatur Central Indoor Winds. Dan grew up in Columbus, Indiana before receiving his degree from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Dan is married to his lovely and understanding wife, Janessa, and they share their home with their three cats, Arya, Teddy, and Ella.
Elizabeth (Libby) Warrner has been teaching at Lawrence North since 2019 but has been a teacher in Lawrence Township since 2016. She graduated from Ball State University cum laude with an honor degree in Vocal/General Music Education and a minor in vocal performance. She lives on the south east side of Indianapolis, with her husband, her parents, her two cats and her puppy, Pepper.
Mr. Jose Valencia has earned two Masters Degrees in Music Performance, one in Orchestra Conducting, and the other in violin performance. He has been the Artistic Director of the Kokomo Symphony Orchestra for over 10 years. He also performs in leadership positions with several other regional professional orchestras in the Midwest. His experiences with high school orchestras include his years at Lawrence North and as sectional coach and private teacher at Lawrence Central and Zionsville Community High School. And, for seven years, Mr. Valencia conducted the top orchestra of the Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, and concurrently conducted the Wabash Valley Youth Symphony and the Musical Arts Youth Orchestra in Bloomington, IN. Outside of work, practicing, and performance, Mr. Valencia loves to hug his dog, cook Filipino foods, bake all the breads, ride his bike (500 miles on the Monon this Summer), and make design improvements and repairs to his home.
Kameron graduated from Ball State with a Bachelor's in Creative Writing and received a Master's of Teaching from the University of St. Francis. In addition to Theater, Mr. McBride also teaches English 10, English 10 Honors and Film Literature. Before coming to Lawrence North, He worked at Muncie Burris and Yorktown.
